MINNEAPOLIS - Researchers say that children are being diagnosed with diabetes more than older ages.
Dr. Antionette Moran at Amplatz Children's Hospital at the University of Minnesota says diabetes at all ages is rising. However, kids under five are being diagnosed at twice the rate of all other age groups.
Diabetes is part genetic and part unknown. "Not everybody who is genetically susceptible gets it,” said Moran. “There is some trigger that occurs and we believe the trigger occurs early in life."
Something tells our immune system to start attacking our insulin production and it's happening a lot younger than before.
So parents need to look out.
If your child is always thirst, it is important to get them checked out.
