Chocolate:
-95% of pet poison helpline calls concern chocolate
-The less sweet and the darker the chocolate the more danger it is to dogs
-Baker's chocolate and dark chocolate pose the biggest risk to dogs
Other Candies:
-High-fat, high-sugar foods can cause pancreatitis for dogs
-Pancreatitis is a potentially fatal inflamation of the pancreas that shows up 2-4 days after ingesting the food
-Monitor dogs for any strange digestinal activity or odd behavior if they consumer large amounts of an unusual food
Raisins/Grapes:
-Even a small number of raisins or grapes can cause kidney failure in dogs (and possibly cats too).
-Some alternative foods that are okay include carrots, peas, green beans, apples
Other Halloween pet hazards:
-Glow sticks and costume jewelry often contain chemicals that can be extemely dangerous for animals.
-Candles can easily be the target of a wagging tail so becareful where you place buring candles
