MINNEAPOLIS, Minn- The finale of the third annual “Battle of the Bands” sponsored by Cravings To Go, rocked the Fine Line in downtown Minneapolis. Fans of the final six bands packed in Thursday night as each band took a swing at the grand prize valued at over $65,000.
The contest began six weeks prior when 15 bands were selected and the online voting began. Each week, two bands with the least amount of votes were eliminated. After five weeks of voting the top five bands remained.
Dred I Dread, F.A.I.T.H (in for Brandon Scott Sellner), Select Three, Steve Sullivan and the Factory, Junebug and Wildcard entry Section 30 entered the finale looking for the grand prize.
When the smoke cleared, it was Select Three who stood above the crowd.
It was evident when Fox 9 entertainment guru and event host Jason Matheson uttered the words “Select Three” the band has a huge following.
The band will star in a national Pizza Hut commercial, will receive a four day recording session and receive a year of Pizza Hut Pizza.
F.A.I.T.H, who had been one of the final two cuts from the contest, was brought in as a last minute replacement took advantage of the opportunity and took second.
Third place went to Steve Sullivan and the Factory, who impressed fans and judges with a behind the back guitar solo.
In all, nearly 125,000 votes were cast the most in the three
year history.
