* This is Mr. Herlofsky’s 34th year of teaching

* He thinks outside of the mainstream curriculum. A main example being the Jackie Robinson Unit he teaches. This unit focuses on not only baseball, but African American baseball players and the Civil Rights Movement – which he correlates into all subjects he teaches.

* The Jackie Robinson Unit concludes with a video conference with a representative at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

* Mr. Herlofsky writes grants to secure the funds to take students on great field trips – like Mill City Museum and Orchestra Hall….or snow-shoeing and making maple syrup at the local nature center.

* He has been the role model and inspiration for his daughter who has been teaching for five years now.
