There’s a new trend that parents of teens need to know. One of ten teens reports having abused over-the-counter cough medicines to get high.
October is National Medicine Abuse Awareness month --- and sobering statistics like this have inspired the makers of over-the-counter cough medicines to join forces with a drug abuse expert and a registered nurse and mother who have lived through the issue, to teach parents of teens to prevent cough medicine abuse.
Joining us now to discuss the issues and what parents can do is Dr. Drew Pinsky and Misty Fetko, who since losing her son, Carl, to a lethal combination of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines has been determined to do something to stop this kind of abuse.
