Keith Marler had a problem in college...he didn't know what to do with his life. He loved science, but didn't want to be cooped up in a lab ...he wanted to teach, but wanted more than a small classroom ...he loved hamming it up, but was too shy to be on stage. Then one spring evening in 1993 he had an epiphany ...a realization that would change his life ...a moment of career clarity that would guide his actions for years ...Keith decided he would be...(drum-roll please) … a Weatherman!!! So Keith finished his Bachelor's Degree in Physics & Math at the University of Maryland and went on to graduate school for Meteorology.

While working on a Master's degree, Keith got his first taste of an early morning routine when he interned with the morning meteorologist at WUSA-TV9 in Washington, DC. While there, he made what future scholars are sure to deem the absolute worst resume tape known to man … but despite the tape, Keith managed to land his first television job as morning meteorologist at KBJR-News6 in Duluth.

Keith and his wife Susan (whom he had met and married while at the University of Maryland ...but that's another story) packed up their life and moved to the Northland. Their family grew by one after the first couple of months in Minnesota, as bulldog Mel (a Minnesota native, by the way) came into their lives. Keith's skills as a meteorologist grew while in Duluth and he received the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval in 2000.

After 3 years of lake-effect snow, -50 degree wind chills, bears in the backyard and lutefisk, Keith moved on to WUSA-TV9 in the nation's capitol (see, internship connections do pay off) where he was the weekend & noon meteorologist at the CBS affiliate in DC.

He spent the next few years enjoying being “home” again and took full advantage of being nearby family and friends. While back on the East Coast, Keith & Susan decided to expand their family and by the winter of 2003 Susan was pregnant with their first child ...but in the late summer of that year their son was born prematurely and died from Trisomy-13 (a genetic disorder). Shortly thereafter, Keith & Susan decided a fresh start with a new job in a new place might be just what they needed to reboot and reset their lives.

Oddly enough ...it was just a few days later that Fox9 called and asked “Hey...you want to come back to Minnesota?” So the Marlers packed up their life & moved halfway across the country for the third time in 6 years ... this time to the Twin Cities ...and they have no desire to leave anytime soon.

Keith & Susan have started to grow their family here in Minnesota with the birth of their daughter in 2004 & their son in 2007. Both kids were born with a full head of hair (all their own ... unlike their Dad) and were both somehow the most beautiful babies ever born in the history of all mankind (according to a slightly biased Keith).

Keith enjoys spending time with his family & friends (“home” is listed as his favorite vacation spot), always enjoys a good movie (a holdout from his 6 years as a video store employee), geeks out on comic books (yes...comic books), and relishes hanging out with the family in the afternoon (the ONLY benefit of starting work before 3am!). Keith lives in Maple Grove with wife Susan, daughter Gracie, son Jack & bulldog Mel.

He can be seen for 5 hours every weekday morning with “Weather on the 9s” from 5am to 9am on the Fox 9 Morning News & from 9am to 10am hosting the Fox 9 Buzz.
